Bad Boys For Life.mp3

Yo, yes we are still alive and well, Im busy as usual on my side of town, Holding down three different nightclubs and maintaining the day job as usual, being a good father and trying to feed all this great music into the ears of denvers music lovers....I think this blog is ready for a bomb.

So today I leave you with a bomb.
P. Diddy - Bad Boys for Life (La Mode's Bad Motherfuckers Fuck Up) REMIX, Please drop as neccesary!
Speaking of bombs, check out this old ass rotary mixer I had the pleasure of using this past saturday night at The LOFT, Dont get me wrong, Rane makes some solid bullet broof mixers but this thing was a tank, felt like I was flying a 747 with a missing steering mechanism. I usually rock the 2nd floor where they have a pioneer 909. Dj Bedz was up there this particular saturday cutting and scratching like it was going out of style, He is hands down one of most humble and talented dj's in this city,

ACEN - TRIP TO THE MOON - ELECTRODIRT RMXZ

Enjoy this new onesided bootleg I stumbled across.

ARTiST.......: Acen
TiTLE........: Trip to the Moon Part 2
GENRE........: House
LABEL........: ELECTRODIRT
RLS.DATE.....: Oct-01-2008

Acen Razvi (real name Syed Ahsen Razvi) was an early 1990s UK rave and hardcore breakbeat techno producer. It was with Production House that Acen released his first hit ‘Close Your Eyes’, which instantly became a hardcore breakbeat anthem. In quick succession Acen released tunes such as ‘Trip II the Moon’,’Window In The Sky’, and his debut album ‘75 Minutes’ ( US release ).’Trip II the Moon’ is Acen’s landmark release, it’s popularity in the club scene ensured that only a trilogy of remix releases could satisfy public demand. It remains a key record in DJs’ record crates to this day, Even though Acen’s releases were not licensed to majors, remaining on Production House, ‘Close Your Eyes’ went on to be Music Week’s Dance Single of the Year and ‘Trip II the Moon’ went Top 40 in 1992. He wrote produced & remixed numerous club anthems on Production House along with producer Floyd Dyce. These included legendary acts such as ‘Brothers Grimm’,’DMS’,’Baby D’,’House Crew’ & ‘X-Static’ Later Acen experimented with Drum ‘N’ Bass Releasing tracks such as ‘No more’ & ‘116.7’ on Warners Subsidiary F-111. More recently however , he can be seen behind the lens directing/cutting films & music promo’s. Acen’s lastest release ‘Dirty Raver’ ( 2004 ) appeared on Rennie Pilgrems TCR label of which , the video was also directed by himself.

Fly Your Paper Plane Straight To Hell.mp3

This song dropped in Feb 2008 and is finally catching a radio worthy buzz seven months later...get a clue colorado....think again! Dont get me wrong, its a catchy tune that samples a guitar riff sampled from the song " Straight to hell" performed by The CLASH. Notably "Paper Planes" is the third single from M.I.A.'s second album Kala. It is written by Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, Diplo, Joe Strummer and Mick Jones. The song was released on February 11, 2008. I created the funky dope set to school you morons that think this song just dropped, stick to the script and keep going to C.U. to be stupid. Tracklisting of the mini mix is provided just in case you get lost.

A DJ For All Seasons

It's a gloriously gloomy day here in colorful Colorado, a telltale sign that summer is finally winding down. Though I'm a bit sad to see it go, I welcome the change of season, and all that it brings - mainly SNOW! So to celebrate, I come bearing gifts: 2 more DJ Love mixes.

First up, a bit of a change for me, hinting to my darker side. Darker progressive or minimal progressive house, if you will, with revolutionary undertones about taking back control of mass media, blah, blah, blah. With this mix, I give a homeboy's nod (wassup) to a couple of old school peeps, Jamo & DJ Joey M. The former is a fan of darker tones and many things techno. How's life up in NorCal bro? The latter is a local legend, and we've talked at length about the art of breakless mixing and keeping the beat chuggin on & on & on. Anyway, here's the link:

DJ Love - Resistance

The second mix needs little introduction. It's house. Straight up.

DJ Love - House The Joint

Tracklistings for both mixes are posted in the comments.

Enjoy & don't say I never gave you anything.

Don't Tell The Feds....

...but I'm a terrorist. A TURNTABLE Terrorist. But my day job has me providing on-site IT techsupport at the Democratic National Convention here in Denver. I get to play "Hi, I'm a Geek. How can I help you?" in the Microsoft sponsored Specialty Media press lounge. It's a tough gig, I swear. One of my duties throughout the day is to fire up the Xbox and get my Rockstar on! The lounge is already getting some Blog Action. And here's an image showing how much fun the action is outside the Convention Center.

A new DJ Love mix is ready for upload, so I'll try not to slack too much and get it posted for our readers.

Two new Ma5hes for your Asses

First up is Ready for the World vs Ciara, Simply titled "OH Sheila".

The group RFTW consists of vocalist Melvin Riley with Gordon Strozier, Gregory Potts,Willie Triplett, John Eaton, and Gerald Valentine. Their self-titled debut was released in 1985 and included perhaps their best-known hit "Oh Sheila", which went to number one on the R&B, Billboard Hot 100, and the Hot Dance Club Play charts that year, becoming the first ever single to hold the number one spot on all three of these charts simultaneously.

I blended the RFTW vocals over Ciara's familliar track" Oh"; and added Ciara's vocal cleverly in the background.

Secondly I present to you, my version of Lupe Fiasco's SuperStar Vs. SOS BAND - Just be good to me.
Photobucket
The SOS Band is an American musical ensemble, founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. Originally known as Santa Monica, the "SOS" initialism in the band's name does not stand for Save Our Souls but for Sounds of Success.

The band, fronted by Mary Davis, was initially famous for the Disco hit "Take Your Time (Do It Right)" in 1980. In 1983, they joined forces with then-new production team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who went on to craft a string of R&B hits for the group, including "Just Be Good to Me," "Tell Me If You Still Care," "Borrowed Love," "No One's Gonna Love You," "Just the Way You Like It," and "The Finest".

The Jam-Lewis-produced SOS Band hits are notable for popularizing the use of the Roland TR-808 drum machine (and its distinctive cowbell sound) in popular music. The group continues to tour and perform to this day.

I also wanna thank every one who made it out to my Birthday Bash at club theorie this past weekend. You guys make getting older easier! I just make it look better!

Dj Bert back in town!

Back from a great trip with a great friend DVD J G Funk. The trip consisted of a cannonball renegade mission to sin city, Las vegas and New Port Beach California. We slept a whole 8 hours since Friday. Pictures now up from Club Tentation the club G and I rocked on Friday night.
We banged out a night full of delightful mixes and tageed teamed with Dj boogi and DJ Karl Detken, the director of pioner Pro DJ product placement. Notably we rocked on the same stage many great dj's have rocked, like DJ AM, Armin Van Buueren, Bad Boy Bill, Cedric Gervais . Then over to vegas with G who worked the Pioneer Dome at the Toyota Scion car show with his live video mix shooting on the inside of this dome, A truly amazing mix of brilliance and talent all under one dome.

From the vault

Here are some old tracks from the vault that I transfered last night. Love says we need to incorporate more classics. So here ya go.

1st up is from the New side of Todd, "Little louie" & Kenny "Dope's" - MAW dance track comp released in 1994,
Sun, Sun Sun "curious"produced & mixed by lil louie vega for small wonders productions inc. A very soulful track that takes me back to the good O house days!

Photobucket

Next is Naked Music Remixes of Sade - By your side, Released in 2001 Mysterious mixes on a deep house tip, supposedly done by Miguel Migs. The label side is more relaxed, while the other side adds a juicy bassline, this is the one I uploaded because it just sounds better to me. The 'Naked' remixes of this Sade single takes it to another level of nocturnal elegance. Works well for late night lounge parties.

Photobucket

Last but not least from late 2003 comes WAY OUT WEST's - MuthaFucka 12" single, A Very DJ-friendly record with syncopated snare action and Ol Dirty Bastard sampled to powerful effect ("Turn that mothafucka up!"). The characteristic funky bassline is present with spacy arpeggios, maximum synth layering and floor-shaking, crowd-pleasing drum fills. With breakdowns aplenty, there are many hands-in-the air moments, one in which the boys bust out with some funky air guitar pluckage. The mood transitions from funky to spooky and back again. There is also some eyebrow-raising turntable trickery instituted with the vocal..sorry no album art available yet on this one.

Linear VS E-40 Tell Me When To Send All My Love.mp3

****LINK UPDATED FROM YESTERDAY*****
A lil late for the Cinco De Mayo celebarations here in denver but I guess this one spawned from the greasy tacos and Tecate's I drank yesterday at Civic Center, while hanging with Kasanova, Dangerous Dan and EMIR and our crowd at Theorie Nightclub where I rocked about 600 people on saturday night....Dam that was FUN!

I know for a fact that Freestyle or Latin Freestyle lives in the hearts of many dj's here in denver and abroad , It was also called Latin Hip Hop in its early years, is a form of electronic music that is heavily influenced by Latin American culture. Performers such as Safire, Information Society, Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam, TKA, George Lamond, and Expose are notable performers of this genre. Freestyle originated in New York in the early 80's. It continues to be produced today and enjoys some degree of popularity, especially in urban Latino and Italian American communities. Another popular modern dance music genre, Florida breaks, evolved from this sound.
The music first developed primarily in New York City and Miami in the mid-1980s. It eventually spread to many other cities with Hispanic populations. Initially, it was a fusion of the vocal styles found in 1970s disco music with the syncopated, synthetic instrumentation of 1980s electro, as favored by fans of breakdancing. It was also influenced by sampling, as found in hip hop music. In the 1990s, the electro and hip hop influences were supplanted by house music.

Does Size Matter?

I record my dj mixes to my hard drive in .wav format, and until now, the mixes that I've uploaded and shared on this blog are compressed and re-encoded at a constant bitrate of 160Kbps. The only reason I compress to this bitrate is to keep the filesize under the share sites' 100Mb maximum. So, in the interest of sound quality, I'm uploading my next few mixes encoded at 320Kbps. I welcome any feedback, be it regarding sound quality, file size, whether you love it or hate it or if you really couldn't care less. I may also share some future goodies uploaded at high and not so high compression rates.

Nigga's beats is bangin, nigga your hooks did it
Your lyrics didn't your gangster look did it
So I would write it if y'all could get it
Bein intricate'll get you wood, critic
On the internet, they like you should spit it
I'm like you should buy it, nigga that's good business
Hehe, forget this rap shit I need a new hustle
A little bit of everything, the new improved Russell
I say that reluctantly cause I do struggle
As you see I can't leave.......so I do love you
